CJP Activist Alleges Stone-Pelting at Home; Accused Swatantra Bhardwaj Arrested Following Jantar Mantar Assault Claim

Nishu Azad, an activist with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), alleged that a group of people surrounded her house and pelted it with stones and bricks.

Nishu posted a video on social media on Saturday night addressing the incident. She appealed to the Delhi and Ghaziabad Police to ensure the safety of her parents and family. In the video, she asked, “If anything happens to my parents, who will be held responsible?”

The attack comes shortly after content creator Swatantra Bhardwaj was arrested on Saturday for allegedly assaulting Nishu’s father, Sanjay Azad, during a protest at Jantar Mantar.

NSUI President Visits Family, Questions Police Action

Following the release of the video, NSUI National President Vinod Jakhar visited Sanjay Azad’s residence on Saturday to meet the family.

Questioning the police response, Jakhar stated that Swatantra Bhardwaj had publicly admitted to assaulting Sanjay Azad, yet initial action was delayed. He claimed the police only acted after Rahul Gandhi raised the issue.

Allegations of Insulting Hindu Deities Against Nishu

Meanwhile, two lawyers filed a police complaint against Nishu and her father, accusing them of posting objectionable content about Hindu deities on social media. Advocate Amita Sachdeva alleged that Nishu’s past posts on X (formerly Twitter) contained derogatory remarks about Goddess Durga and mocked Goddess Saraswati.

Dismissing the allegations, the activist stated, “Unlawful demands are being made to send my father to jail.” Additionally, advocate Prateek Jha filed a separate complaint alleging police bias during the Jantar Mantar incident
