Two Arrested with drugs worth 3.25 cr

Mumbai Crime branch unit 11 has arrested two people for allegedly trafficking heroin in Kandivali West. Police said they seized 651 grams of heroin, along with cash and mobile phones, with the total value of the seized items estimated at around Rs 3.28 crore, officials said. The arrest were made after the crime branch unit no 11 received a tip off about the alleged drug trafficking activity on August 20.
According to the police, based on the tip-off, a Crime Branch team laid a trap near BMC Garden on Khajuriya Road in Kandivali West.
Police intercepted the two suspects at the spot and allegedly recovered 651 grams of high-grade heroin from them. The drug was estimated to have a value of around Rs 3.25 crore on the illicit market.
Apart from the heroin, police seized Rs 2.10 lakh in cash and two mobile phones and other equipment valued at around Rs 50,400.
The total value of the seized drugs, cash and other items was estimated at Rs 3.28 crore.
A case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 21(c) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The case has been registered at Kandivali Police Station. According to the preliminary investigation, the two accused are allegedly linked to an inter-state drug trafficking network operating across state borders.
Police step up anti-drug drive
The action was carried out as part of an ongoing campaign ordered by the Mumbai Police Commissioner to crack down on drug trafficking and distribution in Mumbai and its suburbs.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior police officers, including Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Anil Kumbhare, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Krishnakant Upadhyay, DCP (Detection-1) Navnath Dhavale and ACP (D-South) Dinkar Shilvate.
The field operation was led by Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Jagdale, along with Police Inspector Vishwas Patil, Assistant Police Inspectors Dadasaheb Bansode and Amit Patil, Sub-Inspector Balasaheb Shinde and other police personnel.
Police are investigating the alleged inter-state network and are trying to establish the source of the heroin and identify other people who may be involved in the trafficking operation.
The allegations against the accused are subject to the ongoing investigation and court proceedings.
