Maharashtra Govt announces compensation for the deceased cops families

Maharashtra government on Friday approved a proposal given by the Mumbai police to compensate late Vilas Shinde who recently succumbed to his injuries after being attacked by a biker in Khar and Ajay Gawand who died in 2014 when he was beaten by a homeless alcoholic in Dongri.

According to the police, the families of the late police constables Shinde and Gawand will be entitled to monetary compensation of each month salary the constables were entitled to derive till the time of their retirement. The compensation would also include dearness allowance, increment, and revised pay as per the 7th Pay Commission. The families will also be entitled to get ex-gratia of Rs 1.50 lakh or upto 20 times of the last drawn salary of the constable, whichever would be more. Besides this both the families will be allowed to accommodate in police quarters, or be entitled to derive the rent of their personal house.
